AVS Römer Azubis
Electronics technician for operating technology

It’s certainly never boring: As an electronics technician for industrial engineering, you have a variety of tasks and take on responsibility.

Prerequisite: Intermediate school diploma

Training period: 3.5 years

Where: AVS Römer Werk Grafenau; block teaching at the vocational school in Passau

What you will learn as part of your training:

  • Installation of electrical components and systems in the fields of electrical power supply, industrial operating systems or building systems and automation technology.
  • Design of plant modifications and expansions and installation of conduit systems and power lines.
  • Setting up machines and drive systems and mounting switchgear.
  • Programming, configuring and testing systems and safety equipment.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of equipment, regular inspections and repair in case of malfunction.
  • Organizing the assembly of equipment and supervising the work of service providers and other trades.
  • Instruction of the future users in the operation of the operating technology during the handover of the equipment.
IT specialist for application development

As an IT specialist specializing in application development, you will develop and program customer-specific software applications. You will create individual software from scratch or test existing applications, adapt them and develop application-oriented user interfaces. For your work you will use programming languages and tools such as developer tools. You will also take on project planning and control tasks. In addition, you troubleshoot with the help of expert and diagnostic systems and advise or train users.

Prerequisite: Good intermediate school leaving certificate (Realschule, Wirtschaftsschule, Year 10 Gymnasium students, as well as (specialized) high school graduates)

Training period: 3 years

  • The distinction of operating systems and their application areas and what needs to be considered when customizing and configuring.
  • What to look for when testing systems.
  • Application of programming logic and methods.
  • Customer information and advice as well as customer-oriented documentation of application solutions.
  • Evaluation of the results of operational accounting for controlling purposes.
  • What to look for when designing data models.
  • Differentiation of network architectures.
  • Which programming languages are suitable for what and how to use them.
  • Extending application solutions using application languages.
  • Recognizing the impact of your own communication and information-providing behavior in professional contexts and using digital media responsibly.
  • Establish training objectives and methods.
  • Knowledge of topics such as rights and obligations during training, organization of the training company and environmental protection.
IT specialist for system integration

As an IT specialist specializing in system integration, you will plan and configure IT systems. As an in-house expert and service provider, you will set up and manage these systems. This also means that when faults occur, you systematically isolate and rectify them using expert and diagnostic systems. You advise internal users on the selection and use of equipment and solve application and system problems. In addition, you create system documentation and provide training for users.

Training period: 3 years

Warehouse logistics specialist

As a warehouse logistics specialist, you will receive goods, check them and store them properly. You will compile deliveries and route plans, load and ship.

Prerequisite: At least a good secondary school leaving certificate

Training period: 3 years

Where: AVS Römer Werk Grafenau; block teaching at the vocational school in Dingolfing

What you will learn as part of your training:

  • Receiving goods of all kinds in the logistics department and checking the quantity and condition against the accompanying documents.
  • Optimization of logistical processes – the internal flow of information, materials and values from procurement to sales.
  • Organization of unloading, sorting of goods and proper storage in previously scheduled places.
  • Storage of goods in optimal conditions and regulation of e.g. temperature and humidity.
  • In the outgoing goods department, planning of delivery tours and determination of the most favorable shipping method.
  • Compilation of deliveries and route plans, loading and shipping of goods.
  • Packing of goods and preparation of accompanying documents such as delivery bills or customs declarations.
  • Loading trucks, operating forklifts, and securing cargo to prevent slipping or spillage.
Foreign language industrial clerk

As a foreign language industrial clerk, you will deal with commercial and business management tasks such as materials management, sales and marketing as well as finance and accounting. You will also take an exam as a foreign language correspondent in English. In this way, you will receive a double qualification without extending your training period and can benefit from even better career starting conditions.

Prerequisite: Good intermediate school leaving certificate (Realschule, Wirtschaftsschule, Year 10 Gymnasium students, as well as (specialized) high school graduates)

Training period: 2.5 years

Where: AVS Römer Werk Grafenau; block teaching at the vocational school in Passau

What you will learn as part of your training:

  • English according to the framework for the preparation of the “Fremdsprachenkorrespondent_in Englisch” (“Foreign language correspondent English”) examination.
  • Option to study abroad for approximately four weeks.      
  • How to identify the need for products and services.
  • How to recording and monitor costs.
  • The use of cost planning and control tools.
  • The calculation of personnel requirements.
  • How to maintain inventory and profit and loss accounts.
  • How to process payment transactions and dunning procedures.
  • The effective use of sales channels.
  • The handling of service, after-sales and warranty services.
  • Knowledge of topics such as rights and obligations during training, organization of the training company and environmental protection.
  • In vocational school: Acquisition of further knowledge in occupation-specific learning areas (e.g. analysis and assessment of value-added processes, recording of market-oriented business processes of an industrial company) as well as in general education subjects such as German and economics and social studies.
Industrial clerk

As a mechatronics technician, you will work in the testing, assembly and maintenance of complex machines, plants and systems in plant and mechanical engineering.

What you will learn as part of your training:

  • The construction of mechanical, electro-pneumatic and electronic components, their assembly into complex systems, installation of control software and maintenance of systems.
  • How to Iindependently perform duties, according to documentation and instructions, at various job sites within the company in compliance with relevant regulations and safety rules.
  • How to work as part of a team and coordinate work with upstream and downstream departments.
Technical product designer

As a technical product designer you will support engineers in the development of technical products. You are responsible for the design, construction and layout.

Prerequisite: Intermediate school diploma

Training period: 3.5 years

Where: AVS Römer GmbH & Co. KG (Grafenau plant) or AVS Römer Engineering GmbH & Co. KG (Eging am See); block teaching at Straubing-Bogen vocational school

What you will learn as part of your training:

  • Maintenance of product documentation
  • Management of the different development versions and data backup.
  • Accompanying the development of a product – from the idea to the finished, computer-aided virtual product.
Process mechanic for plastics/rubber

As a process mechanic for plastics and rubber technology specializing in molded parts, you will plan the production of molded parts based on order data or special customer requirements.

Prerequisite: At least a good secondary school leaving certificate

Training period: 3 years

Where: AVS Römer Werk Grafenau; block teaching at the Wasserburg am Inn vocational school

What you will learn as part of your training:

  • Selection of suitable processing methods as well as plant, aggregate and auxiliary materials.
  • Determining the processing parameters, setting up the production machines and equipment accordingly, and monitoring the entire production process.
  • Responsibility for the quality of the products, as well as for the work equipment used.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of tools, machines and equipment and their commissioning.
Toolmaker

Prerequisite: Intermediate school diploma

Training period: 3.5 years

Where: AVS Römer GmbH & Co. KG (Grafenau plant); block teaching at the Waldkirchen vocational school (1st year of training) and at the vocational school in Passau (from the 2nd year of training)

What you will learn as part of your training:

  • With the help of the latest technology and experienced instructors: Manufacturing metals, assembling, maintaining and repairing tools.
  • Milling, turning, grinding, filing, sawing, assembly and disassembly.
  • Checking the dimensional accuracy of workpieces to within a few thousandths of a millimeter, using measuring and testing equipment.
  • In addition to traditional manual machining methods, use of CNC machine tools, which may be programmed by the customer.
  • Assembling individual parts into finished tools and testing them for proper function.
  • Maintenance and repair of e.g. damaged tool parts.
  • Instructing other employees or customers on the operation of equipment.
Machinist

As a cutting machine operator, you will produce precision components mostly from metal using cutting processes such as turning, milling, drilling or grinding.

Prerequisite: Good secondary school diploma

Training period: 3.5 years

Where: AVS Römer GmbH & Co. KG (Grafenau plant); block teaching at the Waldkirchen vocational school (1st year of training) and at the vocational school in Passau (from the 2nd year of training)

What you will learn as part of your training:

  • Work on CNC machine tools.
  • Programming of manufacturing systems.
  • Setting up these machines and systems, performing test runs and monitoring the manufacturing process.
  • Implementation of constant quality controls.
  • Use of calipers, micrometers, gauges and surface measuring devices.
  • Deburring (grinding) of produced workpieces – if required.
  • Documentation of the work performed and results.
  • Cleaning of machines and systems and maintenance/repair of mechanical and electrical components.

Dual study

We offer you a combined study program as part of the “Hochschule dual” project at the TH Deggendorf and the OTH Amberg/Weiden.

Thanks to the close integration of theory and practice during your studies, you can actively apply your theoretical knowledge in many areas of our company. After a sound basic training in the first semester, you will get to know different areas of application within the framework of practical work. These take place, for example, in our development and testing departments, in toolmaking and in production.

Duration: 3.5 years (incl. 16 months of practical training and 3 months of bachelor thesis)

Mechatronics

Technical Product Designer / Machine and Plant Design, TH Deggendorf

In the subject of mechatronics, you will acquire basic scientific and practical knowledge in mechanics, electronics and computer science. After a sound basic training in the first semester, you will get to know various possible future fields of application within the framework of practical work. These take place, for example, in our development and testing departments, in toolmaking and in production.

After your bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, you can start your career in the fields of development/design, testing, commissioning, production planning and control, or technical sales, for example.

 

Mechanical Engineering

Technical Product Designer / Machine and Plant Design, TH Deggendorf

In the bachelor’s degree program in mechanical engineering, you will receive a practice-oriented education based on scientific findings and methods. You will be qualified to work independently as an engineer. Through comprehensive training in the basic subjects, you will learn to recognize the essential interrelationships of the relevant fields of knowledge.

The course can be combined with the technical apprenticeships of mechatronics technician or technical product designer.

After your bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, you can start your career in the fields of development/design, testing, commissioning, production planning and control, or technical sales, for example.

Plastics Technology

Process mechanic plastics/rubber, OTH Amberg-Weiden

The Plastics Technology program provides you with all the skills necessary for the development and manufacture of future-oriented products made of plastics: From design and toolmaking to the wide range of processing methods, the course covers all the requirements placed on future plastics technology engineers.

This course of study can be combined with the technical training occupation of process mechanic for plastics/rubber.

After your bachelor’s degree in plastics engineering, you can start your career in the fields of development/design, testing, commissioning, production planning and control, or technical sales, for example.

Electrical engineering

Electronics technician for operating technology, TH Deggendorf

In the electrical engineering major, you will acquire basic scientific and practical knowledge in electrical energy, electronics, machines and devices. After a sound basic training in the first semester, you will get to know various possible future fields of application within the framework of practical work. These take place, for example, in our development and testing departments, in toolmaking, in maintenance and in production.

This course of study can be combined with the technical apprenticeship as an electronics technician for industrial engineering.

After your bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, you can start your career in the fields of electronics, automotive, mechanical and plant engineering, automation, chemistry or medical technology.
